Cute story but I’m suspicious of any book that claims that things are super clear, i.e. I don’t think it’s necessarily true that just because there was democracy amongst pirates that they were necessarily the good guys and all other ships on the ocean were the bad guys. Just seems too simplistic to be true.

I had high hopes for this one and it was sort of a flop for me. The illustrations are nice but the plot is all over the place and the characters are very one-dimensional. I was also very annoyed by the use of emojis in the writing (in one conversation bubble, a pirate is swearing and it's just a poop emoji *eye roll*).
