I didn't know this book had illustrations along with it. The audio book had great narration, but it was not a great book for a road trip. Definitely one to read the old fashioned way!

One of my favorite books the story is kinda simple but the artwork is amazing and tells the story. I love this book so much.

Visceral. The metaphor translated so well into teaching moments about ethnocentrism and cultural differences. The mixing of images and text to tell a story made it an incredibly rich experience. I think it can serve as an excellent foray into discussions about racism and nationalism. It made me uncomfortable, in a good way. Also, it's a captivating story.

My daughter brought this home as part of her final book haul from the middle school library before school closed in March. She spent so much time laughing over it, that I decided to read it for myself. What a glorious afternoon visit that was.

The audio is delightful! Just the right blend of silliness and satire.

Read during IR time at the beginning of classes. Love the interplay of images and text. My favorite line- "...they spent an almost pleasant few hours pretending to make friendly reading suggestions to each other while actually just trying to make the other feel stupid."
