Inspired, with moments of stark clarity about mortality and what lies beyond it.

How must we live our lives if we are all bees gathering memories of the visible to take to the invisible?

I probably could've had this read in a single day if I put my mind to it, but I adored taking my time with the letters and reflecting on the themes of death, grief, and transformation through Rilke's compelling voice and beautiful narrative. I even started taking notes at one point as his insights were incredibly gracious while also holding a honest reverence for death. Very beautiful collection of letters. I'll be returning to this book in times of grief and loss for sure.

Rilke is an author that I feel close to. He has pondered over the questions I ponder about. At times, he even have answers to my questions. Rilke's approach to life is delicate and pregnant with thoughtful wisdom. His words calm me.

This collection of letters is reminiscent of his letters to the young poet---in its wisdom and consideration. I find that Rilke does not condescend in his letters but approaches the other with compassion.
