It took me a while to finish, but I absolutely LOVE this book. It was recommended to me by a friend and I am so glad they recommended it. I was honestly very surprised by Magnus dying only a few chapters in in the best way possible, it was not the story I was expecting. I never got into Percy Jackson, but I’ve fallen in love with these characters and this story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I do wish wolves weren’t portrayed as so evil though, as they really aren’t monsters in real life.
Graphic: Injury/Injury detail and Death
Moderate: Death of parent, Grief, Abandonment, Murder, Ableism, and Fire/Fire injury
Minor: Bullying, Animal death, and Animal cruelty

I'm on the FLOOR. I love Magnus so much, oh my god. I started reading this about around the time it came out. I stopped reading it (why??) a few chapters in. I recently got it again and started from the beginning.
1. He's Annabeth's cousin also known as I'm crying.
2. Norse mythology. I know absolutely NOTHING about it. The only name I recognized was Thor. The concept was actually pretty interesting.
3. The other characters. I LOVE. I was iffy about Sam at first because I didn't know if she was trustworthy and now I STAN. Hearth and Blitz were greAT. (not mentioning Jack because spoilers)
Overall, I'm DEFINITELY reading the next book when I get it.

This book is not for me.
Magnus = Percy, Sam = Annabeth with a Muslim twist, same plot like in all other Riordan books
This has some of the worst Muslim representation I have ever seen. Wearing a hijab is a religious choice. Sam is worshipping Allah, she is a monotheist. Then how is she working for Odin and how does she deal with all the other Norse gods running around? How can she be a monotheistic polytheist? Make it make sense. And Riordan just never explains it. With Samirah, I have just to constantly suspend my disbelief and it is just tiring. Also, I don't like her voice. It's the same as Annabeth's, which I also didn't like.
Pacing issues. That book is too long and it drags. I was listening to the audiobook while in bed with a high fever. As I was constantly drifting off and waking up, it was still easy to follow and I basically didn't miss anything.
I would have enjoyed this novel as a child, so I won't give it a bad rating and just go back to reading adult books.
