Carver’s verse did not resonate that much with me; you get the feeling he could have been a major poetic voice, but alcohol (and finally lung cancer) got in the way for the author to grow into his full potential; my favorite;

I apparently did not like the ebook that much (2/5 some years back) and the audiobook was no better, repetitious and mind numbing.

Raymond Carver's poems vary in style and length and subject a great deal, and there were some I liked a lot more than others. By the end, the book seemed to drag a bit, as it took me a long time to finish it because of college courses, and by the time I finally managed to finish it, I was a little sick of reading only poetry. But that's not Raymond Carver's fault. I love his poetry because it is clean and clear, but still paints a picture. It doesn't use complicated language or complex poetic devices because it doesn't need to. It is beautiful just as it is. It is a breath of fresh air.
One day, Raymond Carver will be remembered just as much for his poetry as he will for his wonderful short stories. When that day comes, I will be among the few who are telling the world "I told you so." This was an absolutely fantastic collection.
