Boff's critical analysis of the catholic church allows him to provide space an interstitial space for base communities and the ministry fo the church. Boff does a wonderful job in his analysis. I found his first four chapters very important, foundational for a liberation perspective of base communities as it reinvents what it means to be the church.

This book is really quite excellent in many of ways. It is admittedly extremely difficult to read, but underneath that difficulty it has a great deal going for it. Were I a conventional Christian, able to entirely buy into Boff's metaphysics, and were I simply a socialist instead of an anarchist-socialist, thus able to accept the limits to which he constrains his conception of ecclesiological revolution, I would consider this book nearly perfect. As it is, though I reserve these considerable criticisms of his project based upon my own worldview, I cannot deny that this book is genuinely revolutionary. I would not hesitate a second to recommend this to any Christian I might encounter.
