This was really awesome book. A bit naive and so, and sometimes I felt that author is having this story just to think about how this German utopia might (not) work, but pretty amazing.

I thought that the ending fell flat because of the uncomplicated victory and the failure to discuss and deal with the fate of the Germans. However, I found the story enthralling and fun. In spite of it obvious datedness, I felt that the issues in Berlin of 2051 are very real in today's world as well.

This novel is staggeringly predictive! Written right after WWI, "City of Endless Night" rewrites the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Hastings predicted a second world war with Germany that eventually isolates the country so that it must only exist underground apart from the rest of the world. The political and historical implications of this novel are comparable to "1984" and "Brave New World." I definitely recommend this for sci-fi and historical fiction lovers!
