As one might expect, Eco elaborates (and elaborates and elaborates) with great philosophical acumen on the act of writing. But don't be misled into thinking he's dry and uninspiring. To the contrary: he's brilliant, witty, inspiring and frequently humorous.

Okay, I kind of thought this would be more about his writing process and the things he puts into writing novels and it is but I should've remember Eco was an academic first so there's a lot of Semiotics arguments and obscure Hungarian philosphers being cited.

Still kinda fun just over my head in the back half.

Eco has a very interesting perspective on things, and he communicates them in a very fascinating way, even when he writes essays as opposed to novels. (Though, I would argue that they are very similar processes, as he does.) Loved all four parts.

I absolutely loved it. Although I think Umberto Eco should make a list of books he read and post it so people can compare which had made an impact on the stories he writes. I feel a little bit like an aliterate after reading his books. Whats even more curious - in a good way. Anyway, two more books by Umberto Eco on my shelf and I can't wait.
