This is probably the best cold case yet!

I find myself in awe of the mystery. I love that the people and their perceptions are constantly changing and there is more and more complications in family dynamics that made this story quite the wild ride.

You know it’s a good book when you keep shouting “what?” from your office cubicle. I loved the company angle and I already read the next book so it’s so cool to see the origin of Laurie’s friendship with Charlotte. I will admit that I was rooting for Alex and Laurie, just because you’re supposed to. Their narrative is written so you think that they bounce ideas off of each other but in the next book, when she gripes about how much she misses that, I don’t actually see any evidence that they do that.

It’s almost as if this Alex person is this perfect guy, with a tragic backstory, who is rehabilitated by this powerful and successful woman with a tragic backstory. He doesn’t have any discernible flaws and it’s frustrating. I think this book could have done more to show us who Alex really is, instead it just solidified the pretty smart boy narrative. “He’s perfect for you”; but we don’t know anything about him so it doesn’t really do anything for me.

Overall, again a solid story but the character development is lacking.

Listened to the audiobook. Realized that the foreshadowing is meant to mislead you so the ending is more of a twist. Still enjoyed Clark’s book though!

I'm a huge fan of Mary Higgins Clark. Always have been. This was a great story, with a great mystery. Now, I've never read a book she's written with Alafair Burke before. Perhaps that's the reason this book was hard to read at times, I'm not sure. But I found that when a character had a 'thought' the writing would go from third to first person in the same paragraph. It was very jarring and frustrating. It threw me the first time I came across it and I had to re-read it at first. I'm not a fan of that at all. It made it difficult to read at times. Other than that, I enjoyed the plot and the storyline.

empecé el libro y me re atrapo, creo que lei mas de la mitad la primera noche, después se fue poniendo más aburrido, a pesar de que los protagonistas están bien definidos, la trama esta buena pero el final muy forzado y muy mal cerrado para mi gusto
