A bit segmented. But the content is still relevant

Interesting history but the book stalled in the second half, not very engaging

I should have read this book 4 years ago, when I was just starting out in SaaS. Benioff literally and figuratively wrote the SaaS (software as a service- aka cloud-based software- aka the only kind of software anyone makes anymore!) playbook-- which means that this book is essential reading for anyone who works in SaaS or is interested in starting a SaaS business. There is just so much learning wrapped up in this book. For others, aka most of the universe, it will probably be dry and feel very dated.

A little smug, but overall very readable and insightful. I'd have perhaps preferred a little more of the wider narrative and a little less of the 'plays', but that's how the book is styled so I can't complain too much.

Definitely worth a read if you've an interest in SaaS, or indeed in running or simply being part of a fast-growing, modern organisation.

Should we believe that Salesforce is 100% as depicted here? Probably not. That doesn't really matter though, as there's plenty here to enjoy.

This book was extremely simplified, a but repetitive (he was aiming for a certain # of tips), extremely braggadocious and glossed over the challenging parts of start-up life ("I did X, and it worked great!!" or, "I had an idea for Y, and within a year our customers loved it"...well, let's talk ab all the difficulties in that year getting it to work!)

Interesting view into the progression of salesforce.com. It helps that it was not just "some guy" starting this revolutionary company but he made some smart choices that were fascinating to read. Definitely worth the read.
