I know it took me forever to finish this book, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a beautiful work of art. Tennyson has a way with words that no one can emulate in current times, and reading all of the old legends through his poetry is an experience I would gladly repeat.

I only gave it four stars because I got confused sometimes which didn't help some of the stories at all. I loved most of the stories, but not all of them. Not enough to give the whole thing five stars. I really enjoyed the last few and a couple in the middle. My favorite was between Lancelot and Elaine or Guinevere. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Arthurian legend or anything of the kind.

Writing in those anti colonialism messages and hypocrisy and overdecadence of the aristocracy and then gifting it to the Queen is CRAZY if intentional!

This was another purchase in Hay-on-Wye and an attempt to immerse myself in literature of the areas I was traveling in: Scotland, England, and Wales. I think the little pocket book must be a shortened edition, not the entire Idylls of the King.
