Whew, this was difficult to get through, but I toughed it out and I'm glad I did in light of the Dobbs decision in 2022, which is why I picked it up in the first place.

Just an FYI, this book pre-dates the Dobbs decision by at least a decade, so the parts about abortion should be read with that in mind.

So many gut punches, especially when you consider that things have gotten so much worse for reproductive justice since this book first came out.

Before reading this book, I believed that I knew the extent of reproductive racism in this country, the abuses of our government on Black women, specifically poor black women, from slavery onward, and the reproductive justice work that had to be done to combat these abuses over the last 60 years.

I didn’t.
Not even close.
