challenging emotional reflective sad fast-paced

ella's narrative exposes a different point of view during the martial law regime. as an activist's daughter, the evil lurking in the shadows never really left after the people power revolution. up until today, they're just waiting for the perfect time to get revenge to all the people who underestimated them, and bring themselves back into power.

When you're a kid, your views and values are heavily influenced by your family. Because you haven't developed your own lens just yet, they become the filter through which you see the world. That was what it was like for me, at least, and I took their opinions about people and history as if what they said was the (only) truth.

This graphic novel illustrates how a young girl experiences and reacts to the arrest of her father (an activist who gets accused of being a communist rebel). These are the kind of stories I wish I had access to when I was a kid. I would have asked more questions. My vision would have cleared just a little bit earlier.
