Rather depressing...felt somewhat-disjointed.

Really enjoyed this! I've been disappointed with other speculative fiction that gets way too hung up on the details of the science/tech setting and neglects the characters and the universal themes to be explored against that backdrop. Tell Me an Ending, to me, did what I always hope for, and made the novel mostly about the characters and how the phenomenon of memory deletion/restoration can play out in many different ways.

While there was a lot of tragedy in this story I think it left me feeling hopeful and fond of humans in all our messiness.

I really liked the book. It dealt with some really interesting themes that made our book club think pretty deeply. There were some interesting moral considerations. There were a few storylines that I think could have been improved upon, but overall, the book was really well written and I would suggest it!

Multiple characters and plot lines, slow burn mystery, more literary than thriller despite the premise. The idea of erasing memories is so provocative, and I wanted a little bit more from the author and what she wanted to say about memories and how they shape identity. I initially gave the book 3 stars, but after a book club discussion, I decided on a final rating of 3.5.
