Is this a great book? No, but it’s like a bag of peanut M&Ms and a glass of cheap red ~filling and oddly satisfying. The characters don’t change much, but they’re so much fun, you don’t care. The chemistry between the two mains is on point, and the spicy scenes aren’t too long or gratuitous. Fun read

Very slow start to the book, I almost gave up. I’m glad I didn’t. It took me a while to warm to the storyline but by the end, I’m in love with these characters and currently reading the second book. This is my first Kelly St Clare book and I look forward to reading others.

Um. Wow. I loved this so much.

I seriously don't have any complaints.

Okay, maybe a couple: it was sort of slow in the beginning, and the realty/business jargon was hard to follow since that is definitely not my area of expertise. Really, my complaints are personal ones, so that's on me.

I follow a fantastic book reviewer: Namera [The Literary Invertebrate]. And she loved this series. So, I had to take a shot and try it since one, VAMPIRES (my not-so-secret guilty pleasure), fantastic characters, sexual tension out the wazoo, so much chemistry, slow burn of the century, with character development, very well appreciated maturity in the characters and the subject matter, along with a strong heroine that I really came to admire.

I seriously loved this book. I am fully on board for this author and I'm looking forward to her other works.

Would I re-read this? Yes.
Would I recommend this book? All the way.
Was I entertained? The whole time. Seriously. What an excellent fucking book.

Happy reading, Goodreads fiends.

This was really good and I look forward to reading book 2. The first chapter was eyerollingly awkward, but soon afterwards it was captivating.

Okay. This is going to be super short, because I'm already like halfway through book 2. But I wanted to write a quick note for my friends. And that note is:

Stick it out.

The opening of this book is roooooough. Basi is the worst, most TSTL, spoiled, poor-little-rich-girl character and I really, really wanted to punch her in the ovaries. I hovered on the verge of DNF for the first 25% or so because I just could not stand her.

But when the main plot gets going, man, it gets going. And she pulls her head out of her ass, and gets very interesting.

I'm not sure that it was necessary to make the opening THAT painful, but I can also recognize the value in showing a sharp character arc for Basi. And by the end, I was really, really hooked.

Stick it out.

Couldn't put this down

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure it was for me. Rich brat wants to pretend to be poor? Annoying. But then once you get past that intro the story and world building imo is captivating. I can't wait for the next installment in the series.
