I do not recommend this to anybody, this is a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible book, it's purely about cruelty to man and woman, rape and all bad things that's disgusting. This shouldn't have been written or even thought about. I feel so bad about Beauty and felt so sorry for Prince Alexi, no one should ever experience such things. Sex is supposed to be happy, making love and all, but all ever was in this book is rape, rape, rape. I want to burn everybody in this book alive. Arrrgg! There was never a sexy time, a kilig moment about this book and I hate it that I want to erase it off my brain, wash, bleach my brain off it. I hate it, just hate it. I'm so sorry I'm hating a book too much. :(

CWs: rape

This was a very *interesting* read. I'm glad I took a chance on it, and I have to give Anne Rice props for exploring this side of her writing, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

For fans of erotic romance, beware that this is not, in fact, a romance in any capacity. It's reminiscent of Madonna's SEX book in that it truly is a series of fantastical situations without much intimacy tying it together. Cool, just not my thing!

Primera etapa: ¿Por qué estoy leyendo esto?

Si toda la historia se hubiese contado en un solo libro (un poco más largo) hubiese sido perfecto. Llega un momento en el que la dinámica se vuelve muy repetitiva.

No world building or character development. Prince is insufferable.

Ugh this was rough. My overall ranking is solely based on my love and respect for Anne Rice as a writer. This series is written under the pen name A. N. Roquelaure for good reason. This particular book is the first in a trilogy; one that I will not be finishing. This was supposed to be the most erotic book ever written, but the pages were filled with rape and brutality. Unfortunately many of the depicted acts probably occur in modern day sex trafficking rings. Originally written in 1983, I can see that Rice was trying to be progressive and scandalous, writing of male on male and female on female sexual acts, but even with such an open mind in today’s generation, this book was vulgar and crude. Anyone familiar with HD Carlton? This book makes her stories seem like mere children’s fairy tales. It’s that disturbing. I feel dirty and disgusted, yet as I said before, I respect that she wrote it for anyone longing for BSMD. Rice has always pushed the limit to what is deemed socially acceptable, but this is a book that deserves to be banned.
