Very vibe-y, for lack of a better term. An excellent read if one just wants a great atmosphere and endearing characters.

I don’t know if I am just that easy to please, but I went into this book expecting it to be another extremely detailed and boring epic fantasy but it BLEW ME TF AWAY.
First off, the magic system in this book is so unique and unlike anything I’ve ever read before like the magic is centered around BOOKS so it is a book about other books??
Another thing was that Elisabeth was (for me) the perfect fantasy heroine. I feel like this book would have been totally different if it wasn’t for her.
AND NATHANIEL this man just kept developing with every page and I literally fell in love with him from the first encounter and I am so glad he had such a crucial role in the book and I’m especially glad he’s the reason Silas is in the book as well. Man Silas is the most underrated character in this entire book saving Nathaniel and Elisabeth’s asses time and time again and just being *chefs kiss* overall.
I haven’t read the other book written by this author but after this phenomenal read I’m tempted to go ahead and try.

I literally cannot articulate how much I loved this book. Immediately, I was entranced by a world full of spirited books, and even more so by the characters who inhabited it. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas were so much fun to watch grow and bond on-page. This book is so very reminiscent of Howl's Moving Castle, and it warmed my heart to read it. It was magical and romantic and thrilling, and I never knew where the adventure would take me next! This quickly became a favorite book for me, and I can't wait to some day pick it up again.

I didn't like the main character at first but in the end I loved all the main characters!
