I read the first two books in this series quite a while ago. I gave them to my Dad and he must have loved them as much as I did. When I saw him last he gave me the last two books in the series. I wish I hadn't waited so long to check back in with Zack Walker.

This was not my favorite in the series. It was a little predictable and somewhat less suspenseful, at least in the first half of the book. That doesn't mean it wasn't an amazing book though. Linwood Barclay can write a story. He can write a nearly hilarious mystery that you may consider taking time off work to read.

If you haven't read Barclay, you should. If you haven't read the Zack Walker series, start there. From speeding lawn-mowers and fish-guts, to gay pride and surveillance equipment, this book is worth reading up to and through! I am starting on his next one today!

Losing the humor that I enjoyed in this series. Sad.

Another cracking comic thriller from Barclay - I love this series. The writing is sharp and witty, the characters are great and the plot gallops along at page-turning pace. Brilliant.

A Zack Walker novel. This was a good mystery. I couldn't figure out who was the bad guy until it came out in the story. It was also a fast read and one that I couldn't put down. I have read a couple of his books now and I have enjoyed them all.

Zack is called up to the lake where his dad lives after a man is savaged by a bear. It’s not his dad, but his dad is hurt so he stays in town to help him. He soon discovers there’s more going on in the idyllic town than he realised – and that some of it is very dangerous indeed. This is the third book in the series but the first I’ve read and actually 15 plus years old. But it doesn’t feel dated – in fact a lot of the themes in it feel really quite eerily prescient. I enjoyed reading it and would happily read some of the others in the series (there are four in total) if they were to come my way – but given the state of the pile, I probably shouldn’t been looking for them!

Another winner in the Zack Walker series. Not only does Barclay whip up a good plot and weave a good story, but his cheeky dialogues also keep one fully entertained. Zack Walker is growing on me and I’m going to go write a petition and garner signatures so that Barclay writes more in the series. As soon as I finish the next and last in the series.
