I always found Em to be the most interesting character in Mahalia, and wanted to know her story. This does that, but it wasn't anywhere near as interesting as the first book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I just picked it up in my school library, not expecting much from it. I've just finished it after just a few hours of reading. The way the main character, Emily, develops through the book is amazing. The author has been sensitive when describing her feelings and it feels so real. You really can connect to Emily, although she seems slightly odd at the beginning. You learn why she feels how she does, and how she slipped into depression. I really enjoyed this book, and would definitely recommend it!
