I am surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I've never thought much about the "antiquing mystery" genre, but I'm so glad I picked this up. The main character is fun, sarcastic, smart, and a really lovable character. Her dysfunctional family really adds to the book and are also characters you can really like (even prissy Peggy-Sue). The mystery was different and very interesting, especially when the main character is first suspected of murder then becomes a target victim. I love the snarky, smart writing style (with many uses of "sidebar" parentheses). I will definitely continue with this series to see more of these characters.

I gave this book three stars because I had a hard time getting into it and then following the story line. It seemed that the author jumped around a bit and at times I didn't know how the main character came to be where she was. Otherwise it was a fun read with a good story line. I really enjoyed the (parenthesis) thoughts she added in to the narrative.

Brandy Bourne just moved back to her hometown of Serenity after going through a divorce. Vivian, Brandy's mom suffers from a mental illness which plays through the story. During an un-medicated period, Vivian sells all their vintage furniture to a slimy antique dealer. Brandy and Vivian take it upon themselves to try to get the furniture back, but when they stumble upon the antique dealer, dead, the suspicion turns to them. In order to prove their innocence they start investigating the case, which makes them the killers new targets. They must find the killer before he finds them!

Found this book on the Kindle free list. I got my money's worth. But on the plus side, the Iowa requirement for the Cozy Mysteries challenge has been met. I didn't care for the characters, found the plot thin, and hope this isn't the first in a series. Other than that...

Gave up on this Kindle freebie. I became so focused on (what I thought was) the over-usage of parenthesis that I couldn't focus on the storyline.

This was Chik Lit, but it was a mystery, so I read it. This was actually a fun read on a day I needed easy reading and cheering up. Occasionally sarcastic, reasonably witty and lots of areas of foolishness. Still, I enjoyed it despite the fact that I'm not a fan of shopping.

A local guy gets murdered soon after our main character returns to her hometown after a divorce. Her mentally ill mom is a suspect but clearly not the only one to have a serious gripe with the man.

This was a low cost offering for the Nook. I liked it enough that I bought the follow up book, Antiques Mall.

Cute little mystery. The writing was very casual and pretty funny. The author(s) isn't shy about letting us know all the heroine's parenthetical thoughts. Brandy, the leading lady, is very believable. It wasn't my favorite book of all time, but it was cute and I'd read the rest of the Trash 'n' Treasures Mystery if they ever got cheap enough on Kindle.

This was an enjoyable easy-flowing read. I did get sick of hearing about the clothes, the designers of the clothes, the accessories for the clothes, the cost of the clothes, well you get the idea. Once I figured out to ignore those parts, the story was quirky and cute.
