Enjoyed this book it was good. It's well written.

The subject isn't really my usual taste but I always like to try something new.

I love the line at the beginning of the book 'Scars told people you've lived, and you didn't give a s**t'. I think all scars tell a story that has needed healing so I like that.

I am really scared of water (one of my scars) so it was a really good push for me to read this book and also a testimant to the way it's written to have provoked fear. Imagining them diving and I actually feel like I'm there doing it with them.

The friendships and relationships in the book seem taught at points and I wonder why are they bothering with one another but I think that about some relationships in the real world too so it's quite on point.

This book is both intriguing, scary and exciting and I didn't want to stop reading because I really wanted to know what was going to happen.

This isn't my favourite genre of book but I would definitely pick up another Jim Ody book based on the writing style and imaginative story within.

Absolutely loved this from the opening sentence!

Kyle and Donna (who definitely wears the trousers in their relationship!) go on a make or break holiday together. They both enjoy diving and with Donna having an obsession with a map that marks treasure, they both agree that it wouldn't hurt to go diving to look for it. Few people have tried in the past to find this treasure, only to be involved in various "accidents".

Throughout the story, different characters are introduced, and you wonder why. The only way to find out is to keep reading, which is exactly what I NEEDED to do. All these characters do come together and it is definitely worth waiting for.

Do they find the treasure? Are they involved in an "accident" like previous treasure hunters? And does their relationship survive? To answer these questions.... You'll have to read the book!

Another absolutely fantastic read from Jim Ody. Thank you for letting me read an advanced copy. Can't wait for the next one! Xx

This is an author who definitely knows how to grab his readers attention. The opening was pretty explosive to say the least!

With all that is going on in the world right now, I doubt that I will be going any further than England. Thankfully though as a reader, we get the next best thing and we are transported to sunnier climates in Maui. What I would have done to swap places with the characters! Although it wasn’t long before I was glad that I was sat in the comfort of my own home. More so as things take a sinister turn.

Character wise I have to say Jez was my favourite one. He brings a bit of lightness to the story and things are never dull when he is around. Kyle and Donna, I had my reservations where their relationship was concerned. Donna I never really took to. She isn’t an overly likeable character, well not to me anyway. She seems to be Kyle’s weakness which he constantly seems to be battling in his mind.

I loved the whole setting on an island. Being more secluded has it’s advantages and disadvantages and the author utilises this well to make the story all that more exhilarating. You get a feeling of trepidation throughout and I particularly loved how it all ends. I would suggest reading the bit after the epilogue as that added to the story for me, finding out more about the place the author wrote about as well as the folklore.

Mystery Island was a tense and engrossing read. I was swept along with the idyllic location and could easily visualise it all in my head. My sense of fear grew for the characters as to whether they would make it out of there alive. To see if they do, you will have to read it for yourself!

My thanks to the author for a readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

There's nothing more exciting than a trip to explore for buried treasure.

This was a great read. Written in a way that was very engauging that you just could not put it down.

Who wouldn't enjoy a thriller set on the wonderful island of Maui? Kyle and Donna set off there with the hope of searching for a long lost treasure, although Kyle is just hoping to shore up his somewhat rocky relationship with Donna. Throw in Jez (normally found working alongside Hudson Bell) and his larger than life wife, Cassie and you just know it's going to be a roller coaster ride. This book really didn't go where I was expecting it to, but hells bells, it was incredible how all of the storylines pulled together. From reading this, I know more than ever that I'd love to visit Hawaii ~ particularly Maui and that I'd love to read more books from this author.

I'm posting an honest review, in return for receiving this as a reader copy from the author
