Imaginative. Twice the length it should be with a disappointing and incomplete ending.

At 784 pages, this book was about 300 pages too long. Lots of details about stuff that had little or no affect on the plot. Also, I found his concept of cyberspace virtual reality tech unconvincing. Seemed to take forever for very little to happen.

I was able to maintain enough interest to skim through the last half of the book, but nowhere near enough to consider reading any of the remaining 3 books in the quadrilogy. I googled for Otherland spoilers and got the gist of what was to come.

I haven't reread this in at least a decade. I'm fairly certain I read this series as it was released.
Either way this holds up better than I expected considering it was published 25 yrs ago.
I've read that a TV series is being developed based on this series by the team that adapted The Wheel of Time for television.
I hope it gets funded because this would make a fantastic TV show.

This was the best of the lot. It was not good though. I read it because I felt I had to and it was recommended. Once I started I had to finish it since I will finish a series if I start it. But Oof. Did not like.
