While i liked this one, i don't know if i liked it as much as some of the rest. I just couldn't seem to connect as much with these two main characters. But i did find the Jelly Bean incident pretty funny:)

I really did not like Riley when I read her and Vox's book so I was really hoping that Tina would not be much like her. Fortunately, for the most part, she wasn't. Unfortunately, Pearl was. Yeah, Tina did a couple things that annoyed me a little, but for the most part she was a pretty normal girl. I did like Viper, so I felt bad for him. That poor guy sure suffered a lot at those two's hands in the beginning. At least I'm sure that he won't continue suffering like Vox has to.

I didn't think this book was all that exciting compared to the others. Most of it was on Earth and not a lot really happened. We start with Tina going after Riley's boss trying to find out what he knows about her sister's disappearance. She does something crazy, gets some information, and manages to flee. It's not long after she returns home that Viper shows up. He's thrown by the fact that Riley's sister ends up being his mate and he bungles things quite a bit with his choice of Earth words while trying to explain what's going on and what happened with Riley. It didn't help that Tina doesn't really seem to want to listen while he tries to explain things, instead just jumping to conclusions based on what he did manage to say.

Tina's actions in the beginning of the book eventually catch up to her and she ends up having to think fast to save her life and all of those in the bar below her. She does well enough but keeps hoping for Viper to show up and save her. He makes it just in time killing all those that have threatened his mate, and then takes her back up to the warship. The next day Viper goes back down to Earth and ends up getting arrested. That part was kind of fun to read about and I really liked how the agent from Melina's book showed up. I can't help but wonder if he'll pop up again now that he knows more of the truth of the universe.

Tina had a traumatic experience when she was younger that has made her distance herself from males. But when she's around Viper, she never gets the warning alarms in her head and quite likes his attentions. So when she's mean to him, she ends up feeling bad soon after. And when he gets arrested she's determined to save him. When that ends up not necessary she's taken back to the ship. Things get complicated when she finds out that Viper has started her change to a Sarafin without her permission, let alone telling her. So Vox and Riley's wedding had all the expected chaos with them two adding to it.

It's not until Viper and Tina make up and he whisks her away to the home he has built that things pick up just a little...for just a little. The Sarafin traitor makes his move to get the information about the heart of the cat from Vox and is not above torture to get it. Things don't work out for him though and we're given a good idea where the next book will be heading.

3.5 Viper’s Defiant Mate Stars

So this is book 2, and it’s the same world as the first, only it’s with Vox and Riley’s siblings.

I have to say I loved Viper and Tina’s story but I kinda liked Riley and Vox just a little bit more.

Oh does Tina put Viper though his passes.. It was hella funny and sweet how hard he fights to show her he wants her.

I love that he has to win over their grandmother as well. That was kinda sweet.

These females really don’t make it easy on a guy but what I love is that both males, really don’t give up. When they found there mates they did anything and everything to be with them and show them they are it for each other.

Swoony right! I know.
Great book, wonderful series, and the narrator awesome.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Not as good as the first book in the series. Viper seemed like a badass in the first book but in this one, he's such a softie and there's no inclusion of his awesome assassin/spy life built into the story line. Kinda disappointed.

Look, Smith has great story ideas but spellchecker is not a substitute for ACTUAL EDITING. Continuity errors, grammar errors, wrong words, missing words, WORDS. *headdesk* If the story was shitty it wouldn't be nearly this painful because I'd just stop reading!

Fell in love with Viper and Tina from the get go. As usual this book was full of plenty of romance, love, laughter and suspense. In this book we get a little bit more of Pearl and her brand of crazy. We have another warrior brought to his knees trying to figure out how to win his mate while keeping her safe. Tina of course is strong willed and will put up a fight. The both give as good as they will get. 5 stars
