Chass (not her real name) and her mom have been on the run for as long as Chass can remember. She has had several names, lived all over the country, and her mom has never explained why. They end up in Alabama when Chass is in her teens. After her mom disappears, Chass begins to find out about her mother's past. The begining of a series featuring Chass as she solves other mysteries.
Not stellar but fast-paced and a decent mystery for teens.

This book has a fairly high 3.5 but its just not quite a 4 for me. Heres why: I couldn't like the main girl, Chass, as much as I wanted to. Its not that she is a bad character, I like it that she seems to be above all the peer pressure and high school dramas but still she has some things that just bothered me. Chass isn't mean, just inconsiderate of others. She didn't think twice about how her actions would effect the people around her. She takes people for granted and she realizes that eventually so that was good. I also didn't like the all of the stereotypes that were put in, but I it didn't bother me too much and I can understand why they were there.
The mystery, I thought was good and I like the way it all turned out good in the end. There is a some action and close calls which I thought were great. Its a good enough read I guess. Its more of a "Yeah, you could read it." not a "Yeah! You should read it."

Classic identity crisis of a teenager with a bit of mystery thrown in, a little overemotional

This was a much better book than I thought it would be. So if you're having doubts about whether you'd like it, I recommend giving it a try.
I would go more in-depth here but it's been awhile since I read it.

I liked Fake ID. It was a good mystery. Chastity Pureheart and her mother have been on the run as long as Chass can remember. With each new town, there is a stop at the library where new names are selected based on characters from a fiction book. Chastity is now in high school and is tired of running. When her mother disappears, Chass must figure out what to do; does she run like she always has, this time on her own, or does she stay and try to figure out where her mother went and why they've always been on the run. The story is pretty straight forward with enough action to keep the reader involved. Fake ID is the first book in a series about Chastity and her mother called Hunted.
