This book was cute and I loved the evolution of Sadie and Jack's relationship throughout the book. There was definitely some great representation of anxiety and struggling through grief. It felt super realistic and wound up with a great message about continuing to find help, and that healing doesn't have some linear progression. I did think this book dragged on a little bit longer than necessary because I found myself zoning out a couple of times and having to restart several chapters. Also I thought the drama at the very end was 1) a little blown over the top and 2) way to close to the end. There was some closure, but I spend the last 25% waiting for it to happen (because you know it will) and I didn't love that.

As soon as I picked up this book I couldn’t put it down! I love love LOVE Jack and Sadie! Jack is the sweetest book boyfriend out there and I so relate to Sadie with her negative self talk.

I listened to the audiobook and it started off very good!!! I loved it. But by the end, like the last couple hours of the book, it just felt like every important scene, all important, story changing dialogue, was all done via texts. Like they texted back and forth apologies, and meaningful words to repair their relationship, and I just didn’t like that.

If I took a shot every time I thought, wow they need to go to therapy to work thru that, I probably would have drunk more than the characters.

I picked Lease on Love up to try to get me out of my current reading slump, hoping for something cute and easy. And this one did not disappoint.

It’s going to be hard for me to make this review coherent, as I have so many emotions running through me after I finished this book. But, I’m going to try.

This is a slow burn for the ages… It takes a good while for them to get together and yet I didn’t find myself upset about it or wanting to rush it. The journey that they were on as a couple was much more important than rushing the first kiss or having them sleep together too early. The best part about this slow burn, though, was that there was never a “will they, won’t they.” There was never a doubt they were going to get together, it was a “they will, just not yet.” And I think that is why I liked this one so much, knowing that the feelings on both sides were solid, they were just waiting for the right time.

All of the characters were so good… too often the side characters are given the bare minimum because the story isn’t about them. Then, maybe, the author will give them their own book as a sequel. What I liked about this book was that all of the characters had their own subplots going, running alongside the main plot. And it wrapped all of them up pretty well at the end, to where you didn’t need to see a sequel about them. Their stories were completed along with the main plot line, to make this a good “one and done” book.

Speaking of, I LOVED Jack as a character. The sweet nerdy guy who has been alone for so long but is starting to open back up… unmatched. He gives off golden retriever gamer boy energy from the very beginning. Yes, I know he’s supposed to be 30 in this but it still fits. He is sure about Sadie from the moment they meet in that cafe, and doesn’t waver throughout the rest of the book. It is just the sweetest thing to see how he is around her. Raising expectations for women everywhere, I’m sure.

I truly am sad that I already finished this book. I think that it will be one that I reread from time to time. It is definitely one of my favorite reads this year, and might be creeping it’s way up to my favorites.
