Stunningly beautiful, achingly sad. This is a profoundly personal work, but it surely has something to say to everyone.

A difficult book for me, father of a girl eerily similar to Rosalie. Very powerful. This is one of the most well-executed comics I've read as well.

Beautiful and haunting, Hart lays out the sudden unexplained death of his daughter and shares with us his grief. I loved the way he evoked her words and ways, the way he memorialized her thinking and experiences of the world; the writing and art are expertly done. His style changes--scratchy and haggard for the hole of grief, cartoony for the recurring image of himself and his wife in a boat, unmoored, childlike and simple for everything Rosalie. There is a lot of time spent dealing with financial problems and the burden of selling a place in New York; I can't imagine the stress of those things on top of their loss. Graphic memoir is my favorite format for personal storytelling, and this is a strong and brave contribution and tribute to his daughter.
