The plot was really slow, and it didn't click. I know I'm not the intended audience, but 🤷🏼♀️

The first juvenile fiction I've read in awhile, but this one was quite fun. Its story is nothing too heavy. The characters are cute and funny. The story is fast-paced and packed with action. I say this would be great for a reader who likes fantasy but is in the mood for something light and fun.

A fun jaunt through fantastical Norse mythology. The characters start out as a bit grating, but they really shine through once they have each other to play off of! The plot has just the right amount of whimsy and stakes to keep you interested, and it's refreshing to see two characters of the opposite sex not become lovers by the end! A great read for middle school-aged kids!
Moderate: Violence, Death, Injury/Injury detail, Bullying, Death of parent, Murder, Ableism, and Blood
Minor: Alcohol, Animal death, Grief, War, and Classism

This had a slower beginning than I normally prefer, but the last 100 pages or so were worth the wait. Excellent book!

After reading Frostborn, I feel like both boys and girls can enjoy the story because the alternating POV's. Thianna (awesome name by the way) and Karn are very relatable characters. The plot was interesting and fast paced. It exciting to see what was going to happen next. The ending was great with no loose ends, I can't wait to the second book comes out.

As his father's only son, Karn is expected to take over the family farm one day. What he really wants, though, is to play his favorite strategy game, Thrones and Bones, and see the world. Thianna is half Frost Giant, half human. She has always felt like an outsider in her village of Giants, though her Giant father loves her unconditionally. When they are thrown together in unexpected circumstances, both running for their lives, they learn even more about themselves than they do about each other. A great start to a new fantasy series. Recommended for grades 4-8.

A kinda fun Norse mythology middle grade read. I personally couldn’t get into the characters much. I also found the initial plot slow.
But I did like how Karn elated situations to the chess like game he was super into.

First in a fantasy trilogy, as all fantasy books tend to be, is an average read, which never really got my attention totally. It started out quite interesting, but I found myself drifting at times and working hard to maintain my interest. Will I continue with this. Possibly is the answer.
