The art is great, the politics is right on, the philosophy is confusing and it’s 100% punk. But, you know, hanging out with your black friend, it can get awkward. I liked the insects, the images of New Orleans, and the pedi-cab story most of all. Also the occupy chicken who eats chicken, that’s so true.

3.5 stars. As with any story collection, some are definitely stronger than others.

This was a strong collection of comics from Ben Passmore. The reason for the 5 stars is actually from one section in particular that I found affecting. This was graphic commentary on the First Amendment and the coopting of this amendment by bigots and the far right. I've thought long on the 1A and it seemed he and I have had a similar thought train. Although he did not present solutions, the articulation of the issue helped me to understand how I feel more.

Beyond that, the opening sequence called Your Black Friend was sad, funny, and nudged my understanding of microaggressions in the right direction.

I did not connect this author to Adventure Time until after I had finished reading this - which explained many of the things I liked and the general feel of the comics. This comic explores important conversations that are happening now. I feel that this author understands and makes full use of this genre to address these questions and discussions.

Challenges a lot of viewpoints--political, racial, sexual, religious. A very smart book, but so smart I'm sure it went over my head much of the time.

Righteous and important take on modern issues of race, history, economics, and all kinds of injustice. My favorite stories are “Your Black Friend” and “Its Not About You” and “A Letter from a Stone Mountain Jail.”
