Gwenpool is an awesome character!! This miniseries was super fun and I love the way that it explored her powers. Also, her interactions with other superheroes and Marvel characters were entertaining (such as the nicknames she gave them on one page!). Super wonderful and super funny.

I really liked the [a:Christopher Hastings|743852|Christopher Hastings|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1327355916p2/743852.jpg] Gwenpool run (aka Marshmallow Gwen). I also liked West Coast Avengers though Gwen was mainly nerfed into a minor character.

I know her power of outside knowledge makes her more of a tweener than a full hero even at her best but this Gwen seemed needlessly evil at times. And at several points she sets up incredibly complex things off-panel with no real explanation which was disappointing.

I'm glad the character is continuing but given those shortcomings and the fact that this book heavily references past incarnations of the character this shouldn't be your first Gwenpool book.

There are three different types of clickbait. The first is Asshole clickbait. This is where whatever was advertised never actually happens. The second is Normie clickbait where it does happen, albeit in a greatly underwhelming and often disappointing way. The third is David Dobrik clickbait where it actually happens and might even be better. This books falls under the second.

☼ Clickbait is popular between creators because it gets them clicks, not because the consumers like it. Maybe the author didn't get the memo? Although I suppose Gwenpool does keep going on about sales, so maybe sacrificing quality for profit was the intent.

☼ I feel bad giving this book anything other than 5 stars. Why? Because the entire narrative seemed to be about how Gwenpool was going to die if she didn't get enough sales. It felt like I was reading a blog post by a desperate fan begging other people to buy the books; this was only emphasised by Gwenpool's ability to break the fourth wall. I came to read a story not a multipage advertisement bro.

☼ So all the cover situations do happen but . . . it's all quite underwhelming. It should have been a chaotic tumble of well known characters and clever commentary; a battle royale between a shit ton of popular characters? Sign me up! The other characters might as well have been cardboard cut outs (and in some cases, were). If you want an example of a character who goes around, visits more well known characters and integrates themselves into the stories well, I would recommend reading most of Booster Gold's comics.

☞ | DO I RECOMMEND THIS?

Sorry dude, stan Booster Gold or Deadpool instead.

I well and truly don't know how to feel about this one. Gwenpool was already the most meta character in the Marvel universe and this miniseries doubles down on the meta and then doubles down again. The plot-without-a-plot is bizarre to follow, but there are some great moments, and Gwen's undying sincerity as a character remains true. This is a strange one, but the creative team went big and weird, and I respect them going for it. Hopefully this signals much more Gwenpool to come.

This was my least favourite Gwenpool. Almost rated it 2 stars but the last third bumped it up to 3 stars.

upon a reread a few years later, the pop culture references don’t really hold up as well as when it first came out but overall this was still very fun

kind of hard to read once you have read the main series, this just destroys Gwen's character development but fun to read if you just completely forget about the unbelievable gwenpool series
