I wanted to love this so much more than I did. This really fell flat for me. I think if this had been much shorter and if the story had stayed in the haunted house, it would have been much much better- probably a 3 or 4 star difference.

It wasn’t all “bad”. There were some really funny lines in this book that had me actually laugh out loud. I did really enjoy the haunted house scenes, too. But there was too much going on in between all of that and the story just became too jumbled.

"Clowns aren't known for wacky antics with seltzer water anymore. They're known for standing in the backyards of frightened children. Just standing there. Motionless. Staring. Clowns are chilling."

Go ahead and let that shiver go down your back - YES you read that title right. This is a great horror story - definitely reads like a movie. I loved the clowns and their want to make people happy (but oops! all in their horror make-up). I've never itched and scratched and twitched so much while reading a book. Loved the end and how it all concludes. Hilarious, gross and fun!

What's not to live about this book? I mean, we have clowns who, whole not actually evil clowns, are working as such so close enough. We have giant spiders of various sizes. And not just regular house spiders, oh no, we're talking those pesky and ultra creepy wolf spiders! A small town is overrun by these creepy monstrosities, and it is up to the clowns to stop the carnage! Full of humor, skin crawling moments, and buckets of gore, Jeff Strand's Clowns Vs Spiders is sure to become an American Classic right along with Gone with the Wind.

Better than expected but not as epic as it could have been.

Jeff absolutely delivers a flawless story that weaves together the two most common societal fears. It's delivered in a signature fashion that is packed full of traditional horror and lightly garnished with sarcasm and brief anecdotes that keep the plotline not only moving forward but entertaining in every sense of the word. The concept, the writing style, and the delivery are all a breath of fresh air in a genre that is becoming slowly laden with staleness and repetition. Definitely a fan!

Jaunty the Clown and the rest of his clown clan are down on their luck. Nobody wants to see clowns amuse and entertain them anymore - people think clowns are scary! Fortunately, they find a seasonal job working the clown room at a popular haunted house attraction. Unfortunately, on opening night, thousands of dog-sized mutant spiders escape from a cave where they've been trapped and breeding and lay carnage on the attraction and the nearby town.

This one has plenty of trademark Strand humor and creative horror action. A lot of the spider scenes were freaky, so this probably isn't a good one for arachnophobes. With that said, I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as some of the other Strand stories I've read. The action scenes got a little repetitive, and the characters were all a bit too similar, which made it sag in places. However, I could see this making a fun B horror movie experience. Overall a diverting creature feature read.

I find clowns creepy but I really liked Jaunty the Clown, he was a rather endearing character. This story combines humour and horror well. An easy listen on audio
