Taut with a breakneck pace and a gritty rural neo-noir like no other, this thriller delivers. The staging is impeccable and the characters reside on the thin line of believable with a screenwriter’s sheen. The world of the rural south, specifically the black rural south, is depicted with thoroughness and a dark edge of humor. Fully immersive, I tore through this in a matter of days. Audiobook narration was some of the best I’ve experienced.

SA Cosby is always so good! I loved this one more than Blacktop Wasteland but less than Razorblade Tears. The characters feel like real people who I might know in my small southern town. The story is dark, twisty, and fast paced.
