It’s a more digestible read than Syme’s Roman Revolution and for that, seeing as the content is very similar, it’s a good read!!

Finally after having owned this book for 10 or so years I have got around to reading it, I had lost my copy and saw it was 99p for the Kindle so picked up a copy.
A very enjoyable, readable history of the last century of the Roman Republic. Fun, fresh and witty featuring all the usual suspects like Sulla, Cicero, Cato, Caesar, Augustus and Antony to name a few.
This is not a scholarly work but is very accessible to all, a great insight and overview. I am looking forward to reading Dynasty and Persian Fire.
The audio book is great as well. Well narrated.
