This was a hilarious, super quick read that any fan of Stranger Things would love. I mean, come on? Who doesn't want to be Barb?! (Well, besides the "she's in the Upside Down" part...lol).

A cute little coffee table book with lots of amazing illustrations. This book contains a short essay on the iconic Stranger Things wing woman with virtually no screen time, along with lots of other fun little sections. There is a quiz, advice, makeup tips, a playlist, lots of illustrations, What would Barb Do, and loads of other creative things. It's a little short and I could have used more, but I'll take what I can get. The illustrations alone make this gem worth buying. A must own for any dedicated Stranger Things fan. I better see a Bob book soon!

This was a cute book, but I went through it pretty quickly and didn't particularly enjoy it. Stranger Things fans would probably enjoy this more.

Just a fun little sort of side book you'd give to a young teen who loves Barb from season 1. It's got the kind of stuff in it I recall from a lot of girls' magazines that my friends and I read when we were in middle school, if that gives you any idea of what this is.

I love Barb. Great Christmas gift from my daughter, who says I not only am Barb, but I looked a lot like Barb in high school.

This book was a mess. I'm beyond obsessed with Stranger Things and, of course, am a huge Barb fan, but this book did not do her justice. I love the concept of celebrating all things Barb, but the execution was sloppy.

First of all, there are several typos, which is annoying in any published book, but in a book this tiny it's just ridiculous. Literally the very first page welcoming us to the book says:

Neither Nancy or Barb them has ever been cool.

What?? Is that a mashup of "Neither Nancy nor Barb" and "Neither of them"? Did nobody do a once over before this went to print? Another page had not one but TWO sections of text where the spaces between several words were missing.

Second, there are factual errors, specifically with dates. Season one takes place in November 1983, and yet there's a newspaper ad for Barb's car listing the car as being from 1988. That doesn't even make sense. And there's another section with notes in Barb's yearbook from her classmates saying how much they miss her, but the yearbook says "Class of '83". Barb wasn't missing until November 1983, so her yearbook that school year - with her classmates acknowledging she has been missing for months - would be for the class of 1984.

GET. YOUR. FACTS. STRAIGHT.

Third, this book was published in Australia and is written using Australian spellings vs. American. Honestly, I can overlook this in the general text, but it annoyed the hell out of me in the sections that are supposed to be written by Barb, like in her responses to letters she receives. Barb is not going to suddenly spell "behavior", for example, as "behaviour".

Lastly, there isn't much going on in this extremely tiny book, so everything is incredibly repetitious. Barb has minimal screen time on the show, so the few lines she has and two outfits she wears are pretty much all this book is built on, and you will be reminded of that on every page. Most annoying, though, is that Barb is portrayed as little more than an extreme BFF - as though she doesn't really have an identity of her own besides watching over Nancy. Literally twice on the same page "Barb" directs us to be our best friend's guardian angel. Really? If Barb can have a make-believe advice column can't she get some make believe hobbies, too, besides mothering Nancy?

I got this book for a couple bucks from Book Outlet (thank God, because it's not worth full price) and it looks gorgeous on display on my bookcase with my other Stranger Things books and things. I would honestly wear a dress made from the end cover print with Barb's face and the squiggly lines. Ultimately, though, I wish someone would redo this book and make it bigger and better, because, as it is now, it definitely does not offer any justice for Barb.
