“Noisy, fast-paced Fort Lauderdale was home. But now that I'm getting used to the quiet, I've never slept as soundly as I do on Kellys Island.”

I really enjoyed my time with the first book Float Plan when I read it in 2021, and I've been looking forward to return to this series ever since. It took me longer than expected to finally pick up The Suite Spot, but I'm glad I finally did make time for it. This story mostly reads like one big hug, and I do love a good slowburn romance with lots of sweet moments. I also love a story with a small town setting and community vibe, and The Suite Spot definitely delivers on that account as well. The descriptions of Kellys Island were wonderful, and I loved how the community took in both Rachel and her daughter. I liked the brewery angle and seeing the hotel slowly come together... The slowburn romance was well done, and Mason makes for such a great character. I was a bit frustrated by Rachel in points, and the 'big twist' towards the ending mostly made me feel disappointed by her. I don't want to give away spoilers, but let's just say that I couldn't get past the fact that she just gave up without a fight; not asking for help or researching her options first. Anyhow, this was only a minor blip, and I did love my time with the rest of the story. I also can't wait to read book three and spend more time with Anna and Keane again!

The story is sweet and, as expected, you fall in love with the MCs. I found the ending to be too quick which made it feels rushed.

Other than her daughter, Maisie, the one thing Rachel takes pride in is her job as night manager at a luxury hotel. Until one incident changes everything, and she ends up being fired for something she didn't do.

Looking for a fresh start, Rachel takes a job at a brand new brewery hotel resort on Kelleys Island, and packs up her daughter and moves across the country. When she gets there the job isn't what she'd been hoping for, but owner Mason gives her the chance to help build a hotel and start rebuilding her life.

The Suite Spot is the second installment in the Beck Sisters series and the premise sounded so good! Unfortunately, I was left underwhelmed yet again. It's quite possible my expectations were too high going in, but I wanted so much more from this story and its characters. The writing was mediocre, and the romance felt too convenient. I just felt as if there was so much potential and I wasn't a fan of the way the story went.

I was swooning over the setting - a rustic, small town resort with a brewery on site - from the very beginning. It all just felt so homey, fun, and adventurous. Additionally, Mason felt so wholesome, and his story felt realistic in comparison to Rachel's. And I couldn't help but love Maisie's adorable relationship with Mason's grumpy cat.

At the end of the day, this book was worth my time, it just wasn't what I had hoped for and I was left with the feeling that there was something missing.
