Tremendously evocative and faithful slice of life about a host of small-town weirdos and the way close female friends stay together and then naturally split apart. Incredible colloquial and almost dialectic-style dialogue that wouldn't be common in films for some time later. Hilarious and nasty just like Teenagers are.

All I can say really is that this really shows that it was written by a man , I hated this so much , I hated Enid and I hated Rebecca , and also the ending made no senses whatsoever , I felt like a lot of things were missing from the story. I read some reviews that said that most people won’t get it because they weren’t born then and all I have to say is that I’m so happy that I wasn’t born because if this is considered entertaining then people born then need to reevaluate what they consider entertainment

I first read this in high school.  It holds up.

Hmm, too much swearing and condescending crap for me. Just like the movie, but sadder.

The bluntness of the characters, the colloquialism of the dialogue, the coloring and feel to the novel, the views on life after high school, growing up, and friendship. All of these pieces make Ghost World and amazing graphic novel to one who wishes to read about these topics.

I most likely rated this book so highly because I can relate in a lot of ways. It just tears me to find something so riveting and wonderful.

Rating Update 26 May 2019
Five stars to three stars. I barely recall reading this book for pleasure, with some slow parts, and then a five star ending. The rating is lowered to three stars then.

Update 5 July 2019
With the adoption of my new rating system, a five star rating is befitting. The original rating and original review conform to the new rating system. This was a quintessential five star rated book.

Update
When looking at the rating now, I could recall the contents of this book. Despite having always rated this book at five stars, except during the application of the second rating system, I was now not certain of the five star rating. I recall the ending being a great decider in the five star rating but with the current rating system, a book with a five star ending or five star content can be lowered to four stars because of unnecessary or conflicting elements. After reading the synopsis of "Ghost World" on Wikipedia, I am reminded that the five star-rated ending is coupled with a plot that accompanies it well; aimless teenagers messing around before finally having their feelings hurt.

Update
I have the rating colored with green with a grey outline and with a 5B type rating, but reading the entire review and its subsequent updates, along with the synopsis in Wikipedia, I have been unable to recollect any emotions other than recalling I was filled with a five star-rating feeling because of this book.

I have reached a point now where I cannot recall the contents of a book with such a monumental rating and that I must trust my review and previous feelings. However, I have changed the color of the rating to grey with a grey outline, and changed the rating type to 5A. Another reason for allowing the five star-rating is because of the brevity of the graphic novel, from which the five star-content may take up larger portions for buildup, which could make it so that the graphic novel is consummate (which is also the general feeling while reading the original review).

Update
Further support for a five star-rating comes from the tone and diction of the original review, specifically "It just tears me to find something so riveting and wonderful" and "All of these pieces make Ghost World and amazing graphic novel". Though I lean to a five star-rating, the suspicion as in the previous update still persists.
