a great way to end a series, thought i do felt like she left an opening at the end of this book. I really can't wait for bloodlines in the fall or whenever it is going to come. and i hope that Adrian does frogive Rose and become her friends again as well as find happiness.

[re-read for my Greatest Hits Bookshelf Tour 2017
I really don't want to dwell on this, because the longer I spend bitching about just how much I hate this book, the longer I have to wait to get back to work and start Bloodlines. This book is a fucking joke. My head hurts from how many times I rolled my eyes while re-reading this first series, mostly from anything involving Rose and Dimitri's relationship; they fucking deserve each other they're the worst UGH.

Thank god Adrian Fucking Ivashkov is cut loose from the horrible, toxic woman that is Rose Hathaway. Thank god he gets his happy ending. I'm gonna read his series now; it's better and I love it.

GOODBYE FOREVER VAMPIRE ACADEMY FUCK YOU

Dear future-me: Don't re-read these books again. It's a bad time. That's all.

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I don't even wanna talk about it.

But I will anyways.

I think this is the first series where I haven't been an advocate for the "main" couple. In Twilight I was for Edward. In Mortal Instruments I was for Jace. But for all of Vampire Academy, ever since his introduction, I have been one-hundred percent devoted to Adrian Ivashkov.

As I've said in my previous VA reviews, Ivashkov is my favorite character in any series I think I've ever read. Imagine my reaction when Rose (the bitch) cheated on Adrian...and the tears that came to my eyes when I so much as thought of how heartbroken Adrian would be...and how hard I cried when he did confront her at the end of chapter thirty five...and how he was THE ONLY ONE WHO DIDN'T GET A HAPPY ENDING.

I could go on all day about that. But let's talk about the rest of the book.

I really like how Sydney became a...person in this book. Don't get me wrong, I liked her in Blood Promise but she was just so plain at the time that I didn't really love her yet. So it was nice to see her character develop more for the upcoming spin-off. (A spin-off I’m hoping stars a certain Moroi royal who received no happy ending.)

I WANTED DIMITRI TO DIE SO BADLY. Not only because I hate him. Not only because his involvement with Rose was making Adrian’s heart break. Not only because…well, it’s another thing I could go on all day about. I wanted him to die because it would have been poetic. I know, WEIRD for that to be coming from someone who hates him. But it would have been so original for a teen fiction series. I truly expected something different from Mead. But no. Of course it had to end happy (for Dimitri fans, at least). For the fourth time, ugh.

I liked the fact that Lissa became queen. I mean, it was sort of expected, but…it was still pleasant.

I think it was on Goodreads here somewhere, but I read a prediction somewhere that Tasha was the murderer. So that was (sadly) expected. I would have been surprised had it not been predicted by some random person. I would have wanted it to be Daniella only so I could have been surprised in the end.

All in all, four out of five. Because Mead broke Adrian’s heart.

May contain spoilers.

The end of the Vampire Academy Series. It was a long journey to get here but it was worth it in the end. Everything was wrapped up nightly, all was said and done, and yet there’s still more… The Bloodlines Series.

My initial reaction when I first picked up the book was “Damn, this book is long…” and yes, there are longer books like the Harry Potter books, but something I’ve found with Mead’s books was longer doesn’t always mean better. I found that in length, where all your questions get answered also comes at the price of a lot of filler.

Rose Hathaway has done it all. Run away from school, been the youngest to kill a Strigoi, falling in love with her mentor, broken into high security prisons, and now she’s charged with murdering the Queen of the Moroi. That’s a lot of red for someone who’s only eighteen. Determined to get out of jail and find out who Tatiana’s murderer really was, Rose will need the help of all her friends and allies, as well as a few surprising enemies. But, in order to stall for time and keep the guardians off Rose’s trail Adrian and the others at court have to convince the Moroi to acknowledge Vasilisa as a candidate to become Queen.

First and foremost my problem with this book was that it was LONG. Now, I know that’s a serious criticism and in previous reviews I complain that most books are too short, well yes, that’s true. But there is also such thing as being too long. And yes, I can safely say that there are books out there that are not too long, and not too short, but just right.

The beginning of the book promised too much in my opinion. It seemed to start off halfway into a movie rather than the beginning. Picture Last Sacrifice as a film. Rose is in jail, all hope is lost, and then BOOM everyone she’s ever cared about in court ban together to bust her out of jail. WOW! That was totally exciting! Bang-up job! It shows a wonderful contrast to how Rose is always the one saving everyone else, and for once she’s the one that needs to be saved. Then there are a few epic chase scenes, yatta, yatta, yatta, and then it just gets really boring…

There’s a lot of back and forth going on with looking into Lissa’s head, which, I guess there was no other way around it, and it is an interesting way to go about the story instead of changing POV’s. Maybe I’m just being too picky. That’s probably what it is. The trials that Moroi Royalty go through in order to be crowned King or Queen were really very interesting. In my head it definitely played out like the Harry Potter Tri-Wizard trials, although perhaps not as exhilarating.

I do admire all the technical work that went into this last book. A murder occurred and now everyone is trying to solve the mystery as to who did it. It even plays out like a mystery and at the end, presents the reader with a shocking turn that I didn’t see until it was obvious. (I know that sounds confusing but bear with me because if I say anything more it’ll give everything away).

Rose and Dimitri were amazing and were the highlight of the story. Adrian is my love! I LOVE him. And just all is right in the world. But there are still a lot of unanswered questions that might rise in your mind when you get to the end.
What happened to the Keepers?
Where is Robert?
What’s going to happen to the Dragomir Family now?
What about Sydney and the Alchemists?
Where is Eddie?
And serious can Abe and Janine please get back together? I mean, seriously. Aside from Rose and Dimitri, I love Janine and Abe. Abe’s just like…AMAZING like if he was my dad…just no problem.

All and all, a great end to a wonderful series. The romance, especially with Rose and Dimitri, came full circle and everyone, including Rose, did a lot of growing up in the year this series took place. With all the questions left untouched the only thing to do is read the continuation in the Bloodlines spinoff. But for now I need a break…

It’s so sad to see my fav characters go. I know they turn up in the bloodlines series but I’ll miss them.

Rose and Dmitri my fav power couple. I loved the ending and I thought it closed all the ties but also left some mystery. So glad I got to reread this series again and now finally own the physical copies.

Reread: 02/08/22 : gosh what a journey, I just feel so happy to have been a part of Rose’s epic life and journey. This book was just so fast paced with so much going on and so many new things. I’m just happy Rose and Dimitri worked out. I feel bad for Adrian and I can see how hurt he is. I’m excited to carry on with Bloodlines x

Every time I read this series I fall more and more in love with it. Rose and Dimitris love story. Rose and Lissa’s friendship. It’s all beautiful and every time I read it it still feels like I’m reading it for the first time.
I can’t wait to read this series again next year.
