This book is great! I love getting to know Keisha's character and seeing Darian grow into his new role! While this book wasn't very action packed I still found that I greatly enjoyed the story arc. I'm excited to read the next one!

The action part of the story is excellent, but I found descriptions of elaborate clothing irritating.

Pretty formulaic, but exactly the formula that I was looking for, so I enjoyed it. I did think it was quite a bit better than the first book of the series. Darian's matured a lot, and I enjoyed the addition of Keisha as a main character very much. I'm kind of looking forward to reading Owlknight now.

lovely
The aftermath of the mage storms changed everything - but there is still magic, mayhem and people willing to tackle it all.

Read: ~2005
Reread: 1/2/24
While catching up with Darion and seeing how much he has grown into a thoughtful and capable young man in the four years since Owlflight, I found Keisha's arc to be particularly enjoyable. Keisha is almost painfully introverted and she starts to withdraw even more as her half-trained growing Gift starts to make things truly uncomfortable for her. She watches as her best and only friend, her sister, is Chosen and leaves her feeling even more lonely in the village. She finds the courage to point out to her mother that her brothers can help with housekeeping and also steps out on her own finding some peace in her capabilities. As the danger of this installment to the Owl Mage trilogy looms closer and closer only to be of a nature they had not expected and which Keisha and Darion step up to help resolve.

If you were a fan of the previous book you will also enjoy this one. Remains a comfy story that explores interpersonal relationships maturely and soothingly. Keisha is a great new main character that fits right in.
