4.5 another thoroughly enjoyable follow up to this crossover series. This one redeemed Zack a tad. I really love the character and haters his character arc from one of Tori’s books (I’m reading all 3 in order according to the author’s web site).

I also think Kit and Lienna. They’re great characters with great chemistry. And I like that they are getting to know each other without romance first.

I really liked this addition to Kit’s story. You really get to know Kit, more of what he’s thinking and how he works. Of course, he is witty as ever and this book had me cackling. We get to see more of his serious side as well and it really shows how he works. My favorite part though? Kit’s giant crush on Zak. I love it so much.

Okay, listen.

When I learned our favorite gorgeous druid was in this one, I paid a bit more attention. He deserves all the attention

Wow! Another incredible installment in the Guild Codex Universe. I just love Kit and Lienna. Each book give us more information on the bigger picture with the overarching story lines and character interactions. Kit is continuing to develop his skill and is starting to see the magnitude of his power. Including the possibilities, consequences and his personal accountability. Kit's snark was in full force and Lienna's few threats, especially the "tiara", were quite creative. This book had a more serious tone at times as they are each struggling with their current case and their partnership/friendship. We get to see our mysterious Ghost and Kit's response is hysterical.

Once again, THAT ENDING! I hated that it was over. I wanted to know more. Gimme gimme

Nobody:
Kit Morris: "Lil ol me?? But I'm just Lil ol me, just a little lad. I'm a little lad!!! A baby!!!!!"

Ok so the book is clearly going for the classic episodic build, mixed with long story arches while also trying to blend in with the other books that were clearly written before this without thinking how these books were going to fit into there. For example Kit being asked why he didn't wait in the car in Robins Pov 3 books earlier, but in this book he surprises Leanna who didn't know he would be here. Or why Leanna and Kit covered for Robin and the demon beast is also not explained. Maybe in the next book? But that would make the pacing very weird

I love this world. And Kit is such an enjoyable addition to it.

This story is probably my least favorite in the series so far. There is some character growth that did not make sense to me, and it didn’t quite ring true. There are also some little nuances that didn’t add up, and overall I noticed myself not binge reading as much as I normally would.

However, all this being said, I am still very much looking forward to the next several books in the series. There is so much more to learn about Kit, and I’m excited to continue the journey!

Ok, maybe it’s the mood I’m in or whatever… I actually found Kit’s snarky comments and random movie quotes funny. This story was a crossover with the Crystal Druid aka the Ghost. Bleh… turns out Lienna is pretty narrow-minded and whole-heartedly swallows the MPD propaganda. Ugh, what is with the cliffhanger endings? Onto Damned Souls and a Sangria as per the author's recommended reading order, https://www.annettemarie.ca/readingorder.
