even though I loved this book and finished it in a really short time still it wasn't as good as I expected... not a deep story, not much strong characters and so few aspects of the whole story, and not my favorite species...
I really liked broxigar the orc in the ancient war story but orcs are nowhere near my interests I don't like the way they behave or live or anything else about them, but still I really enjoyed the story and the fact that it wasn't a long story helped with reading it!!!

At first I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book because it was a little different than anything I've read. But I loved it.
It was really great getting the back story for so much of the lore that there simply isn't enough time to read up on. I feel I have a better appreciation of the storyline in Draenor now. I plan to keep reading through all the wow books.

Bit difficult to rate this book with just one rating - as a fantasy book for people with no relationship to the Warcraft/WoW universe, it's quite average. But if you are familiar with the characters, and have visited the mentioned places in-game, I think you will enjoy it quite a bit. I did.

If you are brand new to the World of Warcraft books, this is a pretty good place to start. It tells the story of how the conflict between the peaceful and harmonious orcs and draenei occured in Draenor, and why the portal to Azeroth was created. You'll meet characters like Durotan of the Frostwolf Clan, Orgrim Doomhammer, Gul'dan and Ner'zhul, as well as Velen, Kil'jaeden and Archimonde.

Familiar characters and events. Probably more enjoyable since I played wow but I still think the story is interesting and well written.

As classic wow has just come out, i felt the desire to pick up a book about warcraft again. This time it was the book about the origin of the orcs and how they went from hunters to being corrupted by the legion and turning green as well as becoming warlocks. And to be completely honest, I had fun with it.
I'm not really a big Orc lore person, but it was interesting to see of their life before they crossed the portal into Azeroth.
It shows how not all orcs are monsters and how there's a good chunk of them who would rather live peacefully with the other races, but thanks to the legion and Gul'dan being an all around jerk, they all murdered a bunch of Draenei instead.
It's sad because you definitely feel bad for Durotan because he's stuck beetween a rock and a hard place and can't really do anything to stop the legion from influencing most of the orcs and turning them evil.
Overall, I had fun with the book, even though the read itself was pretty sad. It gave me more insight into orcs and even though it was slow at some points and you feel TERRIBLE for the draenei, it was an interesting story for sure that ties in nicely to the start of the burning crusade.
4/5.
Not the best thing i've ever read, but fun enough that i want to read another wow book.

I read this as part of a compilation of World of Warcraft novels. I thought it was well-written and very creative.
