This is the perfect book. A critical look at the pharma industry with an awareness of Social Determinants of Health, quality of care, lobbyists' interests, and NCQA quality standards. This could be another day at my client (which is infinitely better than pharma, to be clear).

I also loved the look at Humira and Aduhelm. Roast them.

A bit dry and belabors the point, but the point is essential: pharma is ruining American society for their own profit

This is an excellent breakdown of how the healthcare system has been bought out at every level by business interests. Most demoralizing is the description of how doctors mostly do not realize that the sources they have been taught to trust are fully compromised. It’s surprisingly readable given the interspersing of personal stories with the details of how research, journals, professional societies, non-profit organizations for medical conditions, clinical practice guidelines, government agencies, and politicians have all failed public health interests. It’s well-researched and ends with calls to action.
