Delightful, nostalgic, and satisfying.
Highly recommended for fans of Downton Abbey or The Importance of Being Earnest. It's not quite as comedic as the latter, but certain elements remind me of it.

Just like discovering Downton Abbey for the first time. Great characters, great plot, fabulous twists, loved it.

Not a bad story, but one that dragged on too long. The characters (apart from Susan, surprisingly) weren't compelling enough to keep me engaged through the lagging middle chapters. Watching the various characters learn bits and pieces of information the audience already knows is only entertaining if the characters themselves are entertaining, and I personally found most of them to be extremely dull. I think I would have enjoyed this more if there were fewer characters, but those characters were fleshed out more.

A solid story! You can certainly see parallels between Downton Abbey and Julian Fellowes’ love for Doctor Thorne (Anthony Trollope).
It’s a good multigenerational story that plays out at a moderate pace. The threads all weave together well and it doesn’t feel like waiting around for something to happen. I also enjoyed trying to figure out what turn the plot would take next.
A solid, low stakes (from the reader’s POV) book, that’s about people trying to live their lives and all the unexpected things that come with it.
