Loved the mix of straightforward messages and metaphor, was 'weird' in the ways I enjoy.

It’s a very touching story of the connection between two deeply hurt people, attempting to find themselves by running away from what hurts.
The only reason for my lower rating is that I found the ending somewhat confusing. Due to its medium being typically fast-paced, I felt like I didn’t have enough time to process all the information that came at the end, thus not managing to grasp as much of the meaning. I wish information was more evenly distributed so that the reader would have time to digest the contents.

Graphic: Car accident and Grief
Moderate: Sexual assault and Death of parent

Another one of hers where I stared at the wall a bit after finishing :')
It starts "grounded" then takes a turn for the surreal, in a road trip that is about grief, trauma, acceptance and understanding.
Bea and Lou start closed off (one more than the other), managing to bond over the trip and find that person thas is listening. A relationship that really tugged at my heartstrings.
I didn't mind the fantasy elements not really being explained, as it contributes to the very oniric experience, as well as being "metaphoric" in a way. As in, did it happen or not?
Some event the protagonists can't truly explain themselves yet will stay within them for the rest of their lives.
Speaking of, the ending. Bittersweet yet hopeful, it gave me a similar feel of the closing of On a Sunbeam", though it is more somber.

Heartbreaking. Very creative. Probably leaning more to a 3.5/5, it's just the ending was a little more open than I had hoped. But very moving. I'm glad I read the whole thing.
