A good book with twists and tales along the way. Everything you think you know about fairy tales is completely flipped on it's head, creating a new narrative to every fairytale you've heard. Great to finally see Filomena and Jack together as well as the interesting cliffhanger of Filomena having to go it alone in the next book!

This series is starting to get a bit repetitive and predictable. Easy read but losing its fun.

I’m seriously having so much fun with this series! The stakes just keep getting higher and higher for Filomena and her crew. Plus, here we get to see the characters talk through some heavier emotions about the expectations and roles thrust upon them. I really, really loved that dialogue and can’t wait to see how those internal conflicts flesh out by book five. The author describes this as the linchpin novel in the series, and I totally agree seeing what has happened so far and thinking of what’s to come! This series is surprising me with how much I’m enjoying it! It’s terribly cheesy at some (read: most) parts, but I love it! I think it’s a perfect series for middle grade readers AND a fun, lighthearted read for those nearly-thirty-years-old, crazy people who have always loved fairy tale twists (me).

I love the Never After series. Melissa de la Cruz does a great job of turning these fairy tales on their heads and showing the other side of the stories we grew up with.
I love the Filomena is starting to gain some confidence in her abilities and that her friends stand by her through all her battles. Looking forward to reading The Missing Sword next.

The pacing in this one is kind of all over the place, but overall I'm still enjoying her re-imaginings of these classic fairy tales.
