Heavy Weather by P.G. Wodehouse

What I'm going to say about this book applies to all of the Jeeves and/or Blandings Castle books from Wodehouse. I don't recommend reading Wodehouse if you're looking for intricate plots or substantial character treatments. I use Wodehouse as a reminder of why I write. He takes such evident enjoyment in playing with words, reading him reminds me that the process of writing doesn't have to always be heavy labor and that the end result doesn't always have to be a life-changing event for the reader -- or an instant addition to a college literature course syllabus.

I'm beginning to think the Blandings Castle books are funnier than the Bertie-Jeeves ones.

Really a 4.5, but true, vintage, farcical Wodehouse. A fantastic rainy day (or any day) read.

One of the few P.G. Wodehouse novels from the Blandings Castle series that I hadn't read before. Plenty of laugh-out-loud moments with plans afoot to kidnap the prize pig, thwart an unsuitable marriage and the imminent publication of Sir Galahad's juicy memoirs.

This one cemented the lovability of the Blandings characters as equal to that of the Jeeves ones

Still all the hallmarks of Wodehouse's comic genius, but this was overdone, too long, and with too many characters. Full marks though to Stephen Fry for his excellent audio narration.

If you don’t find a comedy funny, it’s tedious, and I didn’t find this funny.

Is any Wodehouse ever actually BAD? This isn’t the strongest one, mostly because all the hijinks & comical machinations are to marry off a chorus-girl to a real turd of a man. Possessive, sulky, short = she’s better off without him!

Another delightful Wodehouse book. I’m enjoying being at Blandings Castle.
