Not as happy with this one as I was with the previous two.

I felt like Beth was having a crisis of identity for most of this book and in the end is still confused. She's a sub, a Dom, ok with vanilla sex, etc. I never felt like I understood her character.

Ed on the other hand - LOVED HIM. He has basically a sexual awakening and it's a pretty awesome one. He may very well be my favorite hero in the series.

How did I not know this had come out? I LOVE this series. Laugh out loud sexy geekyness to the nth degree. Quirky, fun and fabulous. I cannot come up with enough adjectives to describe the kinky goodness of these books. The Principle of Desire is a little darker than the previous books but just as enjoyable. Delphine Dryden is now an auto-buy for me.

Ok, I thank netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for a review. Total surprise how well this turned out. Not too much drama that there was eye rolling, which made me like it better. The book had a great amount of chemistry and I really thought it was going to turn out as a ménage a trois but it still ended great. This is a BDSM drama, and I totally loved the geek vs the fairy ..... But I was totally lost on the aspects of the date. Ed was talking about some really crazy theoretic stuff and I would have been one of those dates with the glazed eyes. Kudos!

While I have enjoyed the previous books in the series, this one felt off, and part of it was due to the brevity of the story. The story felt very rushed, and not as explored as the other books. I didn't really understand the dynamic between Beth and Ed, and at times wanted to throttle Beth for her actions with her ex. I liked seeing the other couples adjust their dynamic to include Beth and Ed in their various activities, and I enjoyed Ed's awkward side. It was a fast read, and decent enough, but disappointing as well.

I'd been thinking that I'd like to see more femdom stories right before I started this, so I was delighted to see that the focus of this novella was on the development of the heroine, Beth, as she explored her Domme side. (Dryden is an auto-buy for me, so, no, I didn't know what this was about before I started reading.) I really enjoyed watching her interact with Ed, and watching them explore and play with their new-to-them roles. It's quite possibly because I had so much fun with those two that the addition of Aaron was unwelcome. Intellectually, it made sense to include him in the story, to provide a gauge to watch Beth's development as a person, as a girlfriend, as a switch/domme, but emotionally -- I wanted more time with Beth and Ed. Rounding this up to 4 stars because there's a good chance I'll like this more on the second read.

All these books are great and far more endearing and relatable than other bdsm fare. Not that I don't love some of those, but I like that the characters are just normal people. irl, kinky people are not all absurdly attractive billionaires and hot young virgins.
