I AM SHOOK. THAT ENDING.

God this book was so good. I’ll admit to there being a few parts that held my interest a little less, but overall, not enough to dim my outright obsession. I need book three NOW.

I loved how much Dior grew as a character in this book. That girl is my absolute favourite character and she fucking carried this book. She was absolutely brilliant.

I loved all the new characters we got to meet and get to know, too. This series has such a solid ensemble cast. Every single character in these pages holds so much depth and it makes the book that much more engaging because you’re so wholly invested in everyone. Every minor character, every side plot, all of it matters.

I won’t say too much because we’ll get into spoiler territory, but consider me 100% obsessed.

A great sequel to EOTV. I like that we got to see Celene’s POV, giving more perspective on her upbringing and the dynamic between her and Gabriel. But I will say, I do enjoy when the book is more centered around Gabriel’s journey. Seeing his development of being someone who's slowly trying to find his faith after everything he’s lost and been through is so heartwarming.

This book had a much slower pace, but I honestly didn’t mind it. The world that Kristoff creates is so interesting to me, especially when it comes to the different vampire bloodlines. Learning more about the bloodlines with this book focusing on the Dyvok was great. I look forward to reading about the other three bloodlines in the third book.
