Beautiful, sad and tragic.
This short story has been shortlisted as a nominee for a Hugo award.
I can see why. The writing flows wonderfully, the characters are vivid and believable - and the worldbuilding is amazing for such a short story.
My only quibble is that as much as I love the above - I just can't love the story as a whole. I feel luke it is missing something. I just can't put my finger on what though.
