I’m really enjoying this series! I love the main characters- Calla & Jonah- and their passionate, yet also very real, type of love! It can be hard and difficult, and also be filled with a deep love & lots of romance.
I really enjoyed how this one jumped right into Calla finding her way in Alaska- branching out of her comfort zone, making new (unexpected!) friends, and really trying to “give Alaska a chance”.

I think my only critique of this one was that a few major scenes felt a bit rushed. I would have liked to spend a bit more time in these big wow/scary/sad moments.

On to book 3, which is a novella! I look forward to seeing where these characters go :)

Edit Reread via audiobook-
Gah! It’s just so good! It lures you in slowly until bam you are consumed and can’t put it down. This book is beautiful. It’s more about personal growth for Calla which is understandable since she’s completely upended her life. I loved getting to know all the new characters again and seeing how Calla and Jonah navigate this new chapter. It’s just so damn good and the narrator did it complete justice.

2.75-3 stars...

Okay before everyone comes at me for that low rating. I LOVED a [b:The Simple Wild|36373564|The Simple Wild (Wild, #1)|K.A. Tucker|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1549373129l/36373564._SY75_.jpg|58060835], that was one of my favorite books from last year. I loved the enemies to lovers and banter that Calla and Jonah had in that book. Honestly I thought that the ending even though it was open, I felt like it could have been a good standalone.

Unfortunately this book came out. I swear it was reading about two different couples. Calla became tooooooo whiney that I was about to chuck this book across the room so many times. The only reason I kept going was because I read this book with a group of friends for our book club. Jonah has the patience of a saint for him dealing with Calla. She knew what she was getting in to when she decided to leave Toronto for Alaska. So the fact that we got for the first 75% her complaining about living in Alaska, I was mind blown. I get it being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no friends around you can get to be depressing and maddening. Trust me Calla I get it, when my husband and I moved to San Diego, we didn't have any friends or family down here, but you try and find your purpose.

I will say her friend Dianna and her parents really put her through the ringer always pushing back their visits to Alaska which I thought was rude...

Also I felt like the relationship with Jonah and Calla was different from the first book, yes they are in an established relationship, but I thought they would keep with the banter. I mean there was some of that sass that came out, but it was when discussing furniture and other interior decorating things, that I didn't think that talking about chandeliers would be foreplay... but to each their own..

The last 25% of this book is kinda what bumped up my rating, KA Tucker went back to the old Jonah and Calla, but I felt like that didn't make up for the 75% that I was pissed. If you are thinking of DNFing the book... I mean the last 25% was good, I almost cried about 3 times (it could be because I finished the book.... haha jk)

My overall impression of this book was that this was a 450 page epilogue that didn't really have a plot, it was just revisiting our favorite Yeti and his Barbie. I felt like this would have been stronger if it was a novella rather than a full novel.

I wanted to love this one so badly! But the whole time I was reading this I was frustrated. Calla and Jonah fought for most of the book and it felt like they could just not catch a break. Also I strongly disliked Marie for this whole book and don't know how I'm going to get through hers. I felt like the book just ended and it wasn't very impactful or anything.
