My new favorite book. I savored every beautifully written word. I love the philosophy of the labyrinth. Maybe I’ll build my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this quiet, contemplative story and its strong sense of place — a quiet village and lagoon on Australia’s south coast, where the narrator, Erica, wrestles with her past, and the purpose or point of her life. Erica becomes obsessed with constructing a labyrinth on her property, which she accomplishes with the help of strangers and social misfits. Her project is both a meandering and purposeful journey, as is symbolized by a labyrinth itself. Beautiful writing, too.
