This was such a fun read.
It's full of cheesy tropes and the characters are all a bit stupid, but it all feels intentional and justified.
If you're looking for a cute and easy YA romance with a bit of fantasy this is a great book to enjoy.

I don't feel right giving this book a star rating because everything I disliked about it seems like intentional execution of (imo) bad YA tropes... and I know there's an audience for that? It's just not me.

I don't mind knowing what the end of the story will be but the journey to get there wasn't interesting or engaging.  Characters were extremely flat and complete stereotypes. Arek goes from being a peasant to a king for multiple weeks of the book but has absolutely no development. Everyone ends up happily paired up at the end. Ugh. I only read this because I could skim through a majority and not miss anything.

The miscommunication trope can be such a hard sell but this book was nothing short of fantastic!

Firstly it's a comedy, I expect the characters to be a little dense. Secondly they're 17 and 17 year olds have terrible communication skills 😅

I loved the setting and the each and every character. The writing had me laughing out loud, the epilogue had me in tears.

Highly recommend!

A cute, queer, dungeons and dragons-esque story with a disaster bisexual main character.
And every character is completely oblivious.
